Loving the cold water swimming analogy. It is either as cold as you think and you feel really proud for having done 5 minutes or it isn’t as cold as you think and you have a lovely swim. I other way the day gets better!
I have done the same thing with running. Put your shoes on, step outside and run for 5 minutes. If it sucks you can quit. I’ve never quit.
This was one of the biggest impactful concepts I have gotten from Nancy. It truly has helped me breakthrough so much resistance. And it also validates what I am feeling at the moment of starting something new. It’s not new! Everyone feels that resistance. And it is such a huge accomplishment to actually just take one step. I always try to celebrate now when this happens. I don’t take for granted the amount of energy it takes me to go from zero to one and the amazing feeling it is to go on from there. Thank you Nancy and Bruce! I will share this with my artist friends.
Hi Anneli,
Thank you so much for your lovely note. Bruce and I are delighted that the Zero To One concept is so helpful to you. I love what you wrote about celebrating when this happens! That’s a great reminder.
Warmly,
Nancy
Haven’t watched in a while but this was very useful. I don’t paint as much because I’ve switched to writing fiction, but this was great for that as well!
Hi Karen,
Thanks so much. We’re delighted you found it useful for writing fiction. I’ve been writing fiction too and use the concept of Zero To One to get going past resistance!
Warmly,
Nancy
