Nurturing Your Creativity. Finding Inspiration Outside The Studio

Inspiration is everywhere…in the sun’s reflection on a puddle, the shapes of oranges on a tree, the pattern of dirt on a car’s window.

Nature is the ultimate master of patterns, profligately and freely creating.

I think it’s so important to take time to nurture yourself and your creativity.

Not all of this happens in the studio.

The last few weeks I’ve been on a journey of inspiration and rejuvenation. I traveled to Florence, Italy to study Art & Anatomy in Renaissance Italy with Stanford Medical Alumni. It was absolutely amazing and astonishing. We went to the Accademia after hours and saw Michelangelo’s David as well as his unfinished sculptures which are my favorites.

Later, we traveled to Bologna and discovered Leonardo Da Vinci’s anatomical drawings. Returning to Florence, we saw Galileo’s telescopes and the crypts of Dante Alighieri, Michelangelo, Galileo, Fermi and others in the Church of Santa Croce…and so many things that I’ll write about later…

We returned home and flew to Austin, Texas a day later for an event where I spoke on stage at Chandler Bolt’s Self Publishing School’s  Author Advantage LIVE on the topic of The Hero’s Journey.

It’s been a whirlwind and so enriching. I’m filled with ideas for our journey together…and I want to tell you that I appreciate YOU for being on this journey with me!

Witnessing your journey of saying YES to your dreams of creating your most meaningful art and life is a blessing and an honor.

Recently, I met a beautiful soul named Helen Segal. Helen reached out to me because she’d read The Artist’s Journey and she was deeply moved by it.

She told me that she had a dream of having a child but it never come to fruition. She’s suffered enormously over this for years. Eventually, she worked through her grief and realized that she could help other women and men who are suffering from this loss as well.

Helen has a wonderful message and I admire her courage to express her truth and to make a difference in the lives of so many people who’ve grappled with this experience.

She asked me to give a mini workshop where we explore the power of art to heal. It’s going live today. If you’d like to see it, go here:
